I agree with your comments about the image being too stretched. You could try cropping the original so that it keeps the dimensions of the A4 page. This would mean you could avoid stretching it. Remember you need a Medium Close Up on your front cover. I'm not sure about your use of boxes around the straplines. They don't really work. Also - remember the concept of contrast. You have contrasting colours but could also use contrasting typeface - lowercase as well as capitals, for example.
